Description:
1928 Ford Model A Roadster, California car, clean title. The car was rebuilt and restored from the ground up about 20 years ago. Upgrades included a modern Ford 2.3-liter inline-four engine and an automatic transmission. This is a car that can be driven around town, up and down the coast, and even on the freeway. The modern engine and transmission installed in the car are a Ford 2.3-liter OHV inline-four and C-4 three-speed automatic. Approximately 20,000 miles on the engine from new. The driveshaft and torque tube were shortened to accommodate the engine and transmission that provide power to the Model A rear end. Cold starts are made by turning the key part way and pumping the pedal twice, with a smooth idle and no smoke. No leaks or weeps, and the transmission shifts well. The car has always been garaged since the restoration. There are a few road chips and other blemishes on the front and rear fenders, and there are chips around the rumble seat opening. The tan folding top works well, and is in good condition with no missing components. A new safety glass windshield was installed at the time of the restoration, with no scratches or cracks. The Model A has no seals, or evidence of water leaks. The high and low beam headlights, cowl lights, and brake lights are all in working order. The premium LeBaron Bonney gray interior was installed during the restoration. No tears or other blemishes on the seats or door panels. The chassis was painted and restored. Chassis modifications included additional bracing for the 2.3-liter engine, a shortened driveshaft to accommodate the automatic transmission, fitting of an auxiliary radiator, and installation of a Ford Econoline steering box that was modified to fit the Model A frame and components. All suspension service was done at the time the car was restored. The shocks and bushings are in good condition, with no cracks. The brakes are standard, mechanically operated Model A brakes. The stock 21” wire wheels were restored.
