Cal-Rods of San Gabriel Valley – Featured Car Club Follow Up
November 13, 2016

The Cal-Rods Car Club of San Gabriel Valley had a great showing at the October 16, 2016 Pomona Swap Meet & Classic Car Show, with their unique display of classic cars and trucks. They showed the crowd a ’32 Ford Roadster, a ’95 Chevy Monte Carlo Pace Car, and plenty of cool vehicles from the years in between. Cal-Rods would like to invite any car enthusiasts who may be looking to join a car club to visit them at one of their monthly meetings, held at Finish Line Grill, 2201 N. White Avenue, Pomona, CA. Meetings start at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. You can also find more club photos, events, and info on the Cal-Rods website.
If you’re a car club member and would like your club to enjoy a free day at a future Pomona Swap Meet & Classic Car Show, please contact Matt by email or at (714) 538-7091.
- Mark Bower displayed his 1934 Chevy stake bed truck, which he has owned twice in its lifetime. The truck is powered by a 1965 Corvette 327, with a 700R4 trans. The standard cab is oak framed and has a taller steel roof..
- This 1946 Ford Tudor Sedan belongs to Don Baker.

- The truck’s bed is from a 1992 Chevy Step Side, and is perfect to haul all of the trophies he’s won!
- Bill Sieber has owned this ’54 Buick Century for 11 years.
- Bill says his all stock, original drivetrain Buick is his show car and his driver.
- Doug Bithell showed his California Gold 1955 Pontiac Chieftain, which has been shaved and has had a/c and electric doors added.
- Doug did the work on the 400 engine, and the interior is a work of art.
- This Viper Blue ’32 Roadster is owned by Don Greer, who is a new Cal-Rods member.
- Don’s ’32 gets it’s power from a 383. The undercarriage of the car is all chrome and stainless steel.

- Mike Breatore has done all of the work on his 1954 Dodge Panel himself.
- Mike “Frenched” the body, fabricated the custom metal front end, upgraded the drivetrain, and installed the custom interior over the 10 years he’s owned the truck.
- Chuck Ross restored his ’52 Chevy Belair 9 years ago and drives it everywhere.
- The original 6 cylinder has been replaced with a V8, with a/c, power steering and power brakes to make Chuck’s drives much more comfortable.

- Jim see’s himself as the cars caretaker and plans to keep everything original.
- John Glass towed this ’55 Chevy 210 Wagon home from the Pomona Swap Meet 16 years ago, where he found it as an undriveable “total mess”.
- John has since had it painted charcoal grey and silver, put in a 350, 700R4 trans, a/c, power four wheel disc brakes, and an all new interior. Another great story of a “Pomona Find”.
- Ken Nieto brought his ’57 210 Sedan
- Ken has owned his 307cid powered ’57 for 8 years, but had it painted only 4 days prior to bringing it out to Pomona.
- Ray Mahoney’s “Rum Runner” ’56 Ford Panel gets under way with help from a 450 horsepower 383 Stroker motor.
- Ray has owned this panel for 18 years and enjoys taking it to car shows and cruises.
- This 1967 Chevy “Hot Rod Hauler” is owned by Rich Ralstin.
- Looks like Rich had room in case he found a car he couldn’t live without.
- Ernie Caraza says his ’33 Ford Roadster was “made for racing, is a trophy magnet, and is lots of fun!”
- Ernie’s roadster has a Coast to Coast body, 350cid, 700R4 trans, Ford 9″ rear, and a Mustang II front end.
- Tom Bruner showed his 1934 Ford Tudor, which he’s owned for five years.
- Tom’s all steel chopped ’34 is beautiful in & out.
- Ian Walters brought his ’54 Ford Customline.
- Ian favors his Ford’s original patina with mild customization.
- Jim Salazar impressed the crowd with his ’57 Bel Air, which he’s owned for 18 years.
- Aside from the paint, Jim did all the work on the car himself. It has a 383 Stroker, 700R trans, 9″ rear, power seats and factory power windows.
- This 1995 Chevy Monte Carlo Z34 Brickyard 400 Pace Car was offered for sale by Charlie Tachdjian, of American Classic Cars (909)596-5700.
- Greg Hans did all the work on his 1946 Chevy COE himself.
- The truck was originally a grain hauler, working daily on a Chino, Calif. dairy farm.
- This stunning, blown 426 Hemi should be all the power it needs.
