We will be welcoming one of the oldest Corvette clubs in the world to the August 11, 2013 Pomona Swap Meet, as our Featured Car Club. Corvettes of Southern California (CSC), with over 100 members, has been operating continuously since 1956. Membership is open to owners of Corvettes – any year, which makes for an interesting and historic collection of vehicles at any of their club gatherings. One such club outing is the annual caravan to Moon Stone Beach in Cambria, CA, which has taken place the first weekend in November, for the past 40 years. Activities at the event include a sunset cocktail party, winery visits, car shows and picnics. The club members enjoy getting their ‘vettes out for numerous day trips and cruises including visits to Palomar Observatory, a tour of the U.S.S. Iowa, a lunch trip to Corvette Diner in San Diego and a tour of the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard. The CSC is also planning a return trip to attend the Gambler’s Classic River Run, in Laughlin, NV.

They are a fun-loving, active group  that really enjoys the time they’re able to spend socializing with fellow Corvette enthusiasts. But, Corvettes of Southern California has also been an important contributor to the community, as well. Since 1957, the club has been a State of California non-profit organization. They contribute annually to the Orange County Chapter of the Salvation Army and collect stuffed animals, which are distributed to abused and homeless kids, as well as children involved in domestic issues. CSC also maintains a corporate membership in the National Corvette Museum, in Bowling Green, KY., a non-profit keeper of the Corvette’s past, present and future heritage.

Get out to the August 11, 2013 Pomona Swap Meet and be sure to stop by the Corvette Show/Sale Section to visit with the club and view a collection of one of America’s iconic cars. Some of their enthusiasm for owning and driving their Corvette’s is bound to wear off. For more club info., go to corvettesofsocal.com.
