German Folks VW Klub – Featured Car Club June 2, 2013
May 21, 2013
Volkswagens have been a staple at the Pomona Swap Meet since the 1980’s, so it’s nice to have a VW club as one of our Featured Car Clubs, who have been around since that time. The German Folks VW Klub was founded in 1982, by Ruben Navarro, in the Inland Empire. They started as a small “family” club, but have now grown to a large “family” club that has chapters in California, Arizona, Texas and also in the U.K and Japan. German Folks welcomes any pre-1967 VW’s in the club. At this time, club member’s vehicles include bugs, ghias, buses and notch backs. The club’s main focus is Resto-style. This style, referred to by most as “GFK Style”, is restoring the car to factory specs, using as much NOS parts as possible, to get the vehicle back to 100% factory original. They then lower the car by adding a narrowed and cut front end and lower the rear a couple of notches, so it sets on the ground. “Hard to find” NOS accessories are then added to their vehicles to enhance appearance and add to their uniqueness and rarity. German Folks VW’s have been published in magazines and books all around the world and have won many awards at the same time. The club is involved with Volkswagen shows such as the Hot VW’s Drag Day and Bug-In, in Irwindale, CA. They also attend numerous other car shows year round, including lowrider shows, the DUB show and local community car shows for charities and fundraisers. We are fortunate to have GFK club members as “regulars” at the Pomona Swap Meet and we hope you enjoy their display of classically restored vehicles. They will be parked on the Main Aisle of the Volkswagen Show/Sale section at the June 2nd swap meet.

Please add me to your mailing list. Does Kearth still have sponsor a bug fest? If so, can you tell me where and when it will be? I currently have a 1968 bug that is in process of being transformed into a great lust bug!!! Not quite there yet. Needs lots of d marks (I’m sure I spelled that wrong)!! I live in Port Hueneme but I’m not sure where you meet. Thank you for your comment box. Do you know where I can get a D sticker for my bug?

Hi Tom. Come on out to the June 2, 2013 Pomona Swap Meet where you should find plenty of pre-60 bugs for sale. Also, the German Folks Klub will be in attendance and you’ll be able to ask them if they have a club mailing list or any contacts for the bug you’re looking for. Good luck hunting for your next classic.
it is nice that you guys are keeping
this v.w. tradition, i have a 1967 bug
since 1985.
Please add me to your mailing list. I’ve owned many pre 60’s vw ‘s when i lived in indiana before moving to Cal in 1977. I’m looking for a pre 1960 stock bug. Sincerely Tom Bennett.
